I’m sure that most of us are familiar with the classic Brighton & Hove beach hut, and this 2 day woodworking class (Friday & Saturday) offers the keen student the chance to make their own scaled-down cupboard version of this iconic structure.
We’ll be using all of the important hand tools – and a few power tools as well – as we take on carcass construction, simple rebating, fitting hinges and hanging doors, as well as the rudiments of creating a double pitched roof. Day 1 will cover planning and design, preparation, marking out and cutting of stock, forming rebates and constructing the basic carcass and roof elements.
Day 2 will start with checking our carcass, fitting a back, cutting doors and hanging them, before we finish the roof, add trim and internals and then a final clean up. It’s a great opportunity to learn some key woodworking techniques and to make something you’ll be proud to display in your home for ever.
