There are times when you may feel the desire to display three dimensional items on the wall, alongside your favourite art hangings and similar. By attending this two day woodworking course (Friday & Saturday) you will not only learn a wide variety of basic skills, but will come away with an impressive deep display frame and the know-how to make many more. The key component of this design is the mitred box carcass behind the hinged frame, and it’s the making of this which underpins the whole class.
While forming a clean and accurate mitre joint is readily achievable with a powered mitre saw, we’ll be making ours the old fashioned way with a sharp plane and a shooting board. We’ll also look at various clamping methods and the fitting of traditional brass butt hinges, as well as ways of handling and cutting glass.
*Some previous woodworking experience is recommended
