DIY: Drills, plugs and screws on 29/05/2018 @ 9:00am

From my own experience and from what I hear of countless others, drilling holes in walls, plugging them and then driving a screw in securely (known as making a fixing in the trade) remains one of the most challenging tasks for any would-be DIYer. The starting point of this task is probably the choice of drill, and we all know that there’s a bewildering quantity of kit out there to choose from, let alone drill bits, plugs and screws. And we still haven’t looked at the walls yet…

This half-day class is designed for anyone who wants to learn more about some of the very basics of DIY, and gain the confidence to take on any number of tasks around the home. We’ll look at (and use) the tools involved – especially drills – and find out how to safely make a hole just where you want it, regardless of the wall type concerned (including our local speciality, the ‘bungaroo’). Bring a notebook as there will be lots to take in and loads of top tips too!
