Description
This very popular class introduces the novice woodworker to as many of the woodworking basics as we can cram into 3 hours – and it’s generally a very tight fit! It’s a great place to start your woodworking adventure, and guaranteed fun.
We’ll look at timber and the fundamentals like measuring, marking, cutting, shaping and fixing while we make a simple bracketed shelf (or sconce as it might have been called in Dickens’ time). All your technical questions – including the many mysteries of glues, screws and curves – will be answered, and you’ll soon find yourself acquainted with a whole host of wood related kit and techniques. The job can be made entirely with hand tools, but, given the short time available, we’ll also be using machines (safely) and power tools . All are welcome.
